Limits

Atelier’s numeric caps and what it can’t do yet.

Past a cap, Atelier refuses the action. Your earlier work is kept.

Project caps

ItemCap
Operations per tab2,000, including suppressed ones
Sketches per tab1,000
Items in a sketch2,000, including constraints and dimensions
Lengths and coordinates±100,000 mm
Triangles in imported meshes250,000
Parameters200
Annotations200
Saved views50
Assembly1,000 components, 2,000 joints
Drawing dimensions200
Undo50 steps
Computation time1 minute, then reverts to the last valid part

A project can contain 30 tabs. Geometry, parameter, view and annotation caps apply to each tab. A section accepts 3 simultaneous planes, inclined or axis-aligned. The file size budget covers the entire project.

Online storage full

Atelier first deletes the project’s oldest versions. If that’s not enough, the project stays on this device only.

Screen and connection

  • Window at least 900 px wide. No phone version.
  • Internet connection required to open the editor.

If something gets stuck

  • The 3D view stops: click Restart the view. Your model stays intact.
  • A panel, the 3D engine or the account isn’t responding: click Try again.

What Atelier doesn’t do (yet)

TopicNot possible yet
ImportIGES, Parasolid, Rhino, FBX and DWG. OBJ MTL appearances and textures are not imported.
STEP importsLayers, materials, GD&T and per-face colors: a body takes one color, the one covering most of it. Existing project features retain their compounds.
Imported meshesRecovering analytic surfaces from triangles. Faceted conversion supports one closed outward shell of at most 2,000 triangles. Measuring the minimum distance between two meshes or face area, sketching on them or applying an operation such as Fillet to them. Bounding dimensions and distances between vertices are available.
UnitsGlobal display in other units. Inputs accept mm/cm/m/in and convert to mm.
ModelingStandalone 3D curves, loft rails and G1/G2 continuity. Surface patches, lofts, sweeps, stitching and thickening are available.
SketchesEllipse, sketch on a curved face. Offset on a spline. Changing the side count of an existing polygon (radius and orientation remain editable).
ExtrudeStopping on an oblique or curved face, or the next object. A parallel construction plane or the infinite plane of a planar face is supported, with an associative offset.
ConstructionAssociative solid vertices and an axis normal to a curve. Sketch points can drive planes/axes; intersecting supports produce bisectors. Named axes can drive Revolve and Move/copy in arbitrary directions.
Manufacturing analysisThickness, whole-mesh distances and automatic bed placement. Bounded-course clearance reports a conservative bound and uncertain cases. Current-pose solid clearance and exported group envelope checks are available.
Surface analysisMathematical G1/G2 certification and curvature combs. Zebra inspects tessellated normals; overhangs accept arbitrary directions and geometric plate contact. No support, adhesion or thickness calculation.
Mesh repairFilling nonplanar holes, mesh booleans and non-manifold repair. Planar hole filling, selected fragments and bounded faceted conversion are available. Plane splitting with closed caps is available under the limits described in Operations. Consistent winding, whole-mesh reversal, degenerate-triangle removal and keeping the largest fragment are available under the limits described in Operations.
Mesh diagnosticsSelf-intersections, thickness, body overlaps and automatic repair. STL/3MF export reports and locates local topology defects in imported meshes; a closed mesh is not a printability guarantee.
HoleLinked screws, standard head sizes and termination at an oblique/curved face or the next object. A modeled thread can be added separately to a complete cylindrical bore. The offered clearance diameters do not compensate for printing processes.
TextCurved supports, custom fonts and sketch text. Geometric Latin lettering on planes supports relief/engraving.
Feature patternSources that both add and remove material, general face patterns and through-all recomputation on varying thicknesses. Mirroring, paths and more source operations are available. Place patterns before body placement operations.
Mesh splittingOpen/multiple shells, touching/crossing sections and coplanar faces; at most 2,048 section vertices.
ShellCurved openings and multi-solid bodies. Closed, inward, outward and both-sides modes are available; outward and both-sides modes round exterior corners.
ThreadISO tolerance classes, standard rounded roots, tapered/multi-start threads, cosmetic representation and linked screws. The modeled flat 60° profile uses the existing cylinder diameter and an explicit radial allowance.
ExpressionsConditions; mm/cm/m/in units are supported.
AssemblyJoints other than Rigid, Revolute and Slider. A part driven by several joints. Subassemblies, bill of materials.
DrawingMore than one sheet, or views other than the four fixed views. Angle or radius dimensions, sections.
RenderingSeveral materials per body. Image textures, transparent materials.
AccountPassword reset, account deletion.
Working togetherMerging two simultaneous edits (see Projects and saving). Editing a comment.
